Uttarakhand avalanche: Uttarakhand police leader Ashok Kumar stated Indian Air Force helicopters are supporting within the rescue effort



Four trainee mountaineers had been killed after an avalanche hit them on a mountain in Uttarakhand today. The mountaineering institute in which those trainees had enrolled confirmed the casualties, information employer Asian News International said. Eight had been rescued and rescuers are searching for more.

All the trainees are from Nehru Mountaineering Institute in Uttarkashi.


Uttarakhand police leader Ashok Kumar said Indian Air Force helicopters are helping inside the rescue attempt.


The avalanche hit the group at nine am at an altitude of 16,000 ft.


A rescue officer stated the injured trainees are being flown to a nearby helipad at a height of 13,000 toes, and then to country capital Dehradun.


Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's office stated groups of the National Disaster Response Force, the kingdom catastrophe response pressure and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police are a part of the rescue operation.


"Rapid alleviation and rescue operations are being executed by way of the district administration, NDRF, SDRF, Army and ITBP employees in conjunction with the group of NIM to rescue the trainees trapped in the avalanche in Draupadi's Danda-2 mountain top on the earliest," the Chief Minister's Office tweeted.


The Chief Minister's Office stated he has spoken to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and sought the military's assist. "The centre has confident every assist," it stated.
