The BJP claims Hindus were attacked and the police failed to act due to the fact houses belonging to a certain community had been being attacked. Police resources have denied the allegation; they stated 38 people have been arrested, consisting of BJP country President Sukanta Majumdar.


Speaking to journalists before his arrest, Mr Majumdar alleged: "The position of the police is deplorable. Try as plenty as you can, but you can not stop BJP."
